Our Lives Together

We are always pleased to welcome visitors including children to our meetings. Every Sunday (apart from Christmas, Easter and summer breaks) members of our Children’s Committee lead children’s classes.

Cotteridge Meeting is a faithful community of diverse views. We try to listen to each other with love. We have a number of activities that help build our community and allow us to get to know each other better.

  • Shared lunch: on the third Sunday of each month everyone is invited to our shared lunch – don’t worry if you forget to bring food, there are shops close by. We often have an invited speaker or session organised by members of the meeting after shared lunch.
  • Coffee mornings: On the last Thursday of the month we hold a coffee morning in someone’s home. All are welcome to come along for conversation and a catch up.

  • Spiritual journey groups: Many people in the meeting are members of spiritual journey groups. The groups usually consist of about 4-6 people.  They meet regularly at times convenient to their members. They give us a chance to get to know each other at a deeper level. Some also meet regularly to read Quaker Faith and Practice, our book of Quaker and other spiritual writings.
  • Study groups: Most years we arrange at least one series of meetings for study and discussion. Recently we shared and discussed some of our own spiritual practices, for example meditation and “crafting in the Spirit”.
  • Social events: We also enjoy occasional social events and outings.
  • Away days: We have occasional days either at Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre or facilitated by Woodbrooke staff at our meeting house.
  • Weekends away: Every two years a weekend away together strengthens us both in spirit and in community.

Our library fills ten shelves in the classroom. It contains a very wide selection of books of chosen to inspire or inform. Anyone is welcome to borrow books by signing them out in the notebook provided. Our librarians select a few books each week to display in our entrance hall before and after meeting. A copy of our library catalogue is available online: www.librarything.com/catalog/cotteridgemeeting.
